The Association

About Us

The Grandi Cru Association of the Tuscan Coast was founded in Bolgheri on May 15, 2003, the beating heart of the coast’s wine industry. The 12 founding members came together to defend, promote, and spread the culture of wine quality in an extraordinary region that spans the provinces of Massa, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno, and Grosseto.

Today, the association represents a total of 1,500 hectares of vineyards. A diverse group of vignerons united by a single goal: to convey the authentic spirit of the Tuscan Coast through wines that express an indissoluble bond with the land and the sea.

Our work is based on:

  • the protection of biodiversity and native grape varieties, such as Vermentino della Versilia, Ciliegiolo, Ansonica del Giglio, and Pollera della Costa Nord;
  • the promotion of great reds and SuperTuscans, symbols of an innovative identity recognized worldwide;
  • the protection and promotion of Geographical Indications, such as Costa Toscana IGT and Toscana IGT, without forgetting the other appellations along the coast.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to create value on the Tuscan Coast through wine, the highest expression of culture, history, and landscape.

We believe in a concept of terroir that brings together:

Territory – The sea, the winds, THE LIGHT, and the mineral and limestone soils: the nature of the Tuscan Coast gives us a unique terroir that we respect and protect.

People – The expertise of our vignerons and the free spirit of producers who choose quality, without compromise.

Innovation and tradition – We work to preserve historic grape varieties while also experimenting, as demonstrated by the SuperTuscans born on these hills.

We are passionate stewards of our landscapes: we dedicate our skills, curiosity, and imagination to the territory.

Our commitment is to build a future in which the Tuscan Coast continues to be one of the most dynamic and appreciated wine regions in Italy and the world.
